Dog sports allow us to form special relationships that many of us never dreamed possible. We strive to help you develop the flexible, warm, supportive partnership with your dog that we are so excited to have found with our own!
Provide clear, actionable guidance to help you and your dog reach your training goals with expert support.
Instruct in a warm and supportive manner that respects the dog and the handler equally.
Accessible, affordable courses covering a wide range of topics in a supportive learning environment.
Our courses are taught in a manner that respects the physical and emotional well being of both the dog and handler. Our philosophy is to be kind, always.
We meet our students where they are…you don’t have sign a pledge and we don’t specify how students should or should not train. We provide you with effective and dog friendly options; what you do with that information is up to you.
FDSA was founded by Denise Fenzi. Denise has competed in a wide range of dog sports, consistently demonstrating the ability to train and compete with dogs using motivational methods where compulsion is the norm.

This class teaches control and handler focus suitable for a variety of dog sports. Using structured games, handlers will work on impulse control, focus, and responsiveness in the presence of distractions.

Instructor: Erin Lynes
Dock diving is a sport with unlimited opportunities to fine tune your dog’s skills and your own handler strategies! But when you only have a limited amount of time on the dock each week to practice, how do you make the most of that time?

Instructor: Heather Lawson
Are you overwhelmed trying to come up with or at a loss for new ideas to stimulate your furry friend’s little mind? Is the weather too hot or miserable outside but your dog has too much energy to stay inside? Well, it's time to unleash their inner Einstein with our class on teaching cognitive skills to dogs! We'll show you how to train your pup to read, yes READ! They'll be reading War and Peace in no time. Okay, maybe not War and Peace, but we'll definitely start with some basic words and build from there.

Instructor: Aleksandra Woodroffe
3 WEEK CLASS - A nose freeze can make it easier to call “ALERT!”, but it is not necessarily the right choice for every nose work team. This 3-week class is for teams that want to build, refine, or better understand a nose freeze behavior as a trained final response (TFR) while evaluating whether it aligns with their communication and competition goals. Exploration of a nose freeze and working through the process isn't necessarily a commitment to a new behavior, and at the very least you can walk away with your dog having a higher reinforcement history for odor source!

Instructor: Kim Palermo
Ready to take your CU skills on the road? Welcome to I CU in the Real World: Advancing Your Control Unleashed Skills! This class will build on all previous CU classes. Gold students will have the opportunity to address challenges specific to their own dogs to work on throughout the 6 weeks. We will also dive deeper into CU concepts, start to bring patterns together to build routines, decrease reinforcement, and dive into advanced concepts like Voluntary Sharing, Requested Approach Training, and LATTE (Look At That, Then Enrichment.) This class is ideal for any team who has already taken a previous CU class and is ready to bring their skills into the big wide world!
